Courtenay Brinckerhoff
Courtenay Brinckerhoff is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Foley. She is vice chair of the firm’s Chemical, Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Practice and a member of the firm’s Life Sciences Industry Team. She also is involved with Foley’s Life Sciences Licensing & Collobarations group and Personalized Medicine group. Her practice focuses on client counseling in all aspects of obtaining, licensing, and enforcing patents and conducting freedom-to-operate and due diligence investigations.

Ms. Brinkerhoff has represented clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Patent Office Board of Appeals and Interferences, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She works with clients in diverse industries, including pharmaceuticals (chemical and biotechnological), human and animal food products, nutraceuticals, and medical devices.

Simon J. Elliott
Simon J. Elliott is an associate with Foley and is a member of the Chemical, Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Practice. Dr. Elliott’s practice involves patent prosecution, patent application drafting, opinions, and client counseling in all areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food products, and cosmetics.

Dr. Elliot received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law School in 2007. He earned his Ph.D. in microbiology and molecular biology from the University of Western Australia in 1995. He received a B.S., cum laude with honors, in microbiology in 1989 and a B.S. with double majors in organic chemistry and microbiology from the University of Western Australia in 1988.
